Change & Adapt

When the days seem so alike

and nothing much happens

to stir the embers of your soul,

what would you give

to be able to live,

change the course

of your life’s journey?

.

Is it a forgone conclusion,

a delusional mindset

that allows no leeway

to your direction?

.

Have you just surrendered

to the inevitable?

.

What if change ‘was’ possible?

If you ‘could’ take a different route,

even for a few short years?

Could you adapt?

.

Or do fears hold us back,

and we lack the certitude

that we might achieve an outcome

that seems unlikely

to minds set in concrete moulds,

hearing the old tales, too learnt to disregard,

too ingrained to ignore.

.

Do we look back?

Do we look forwards?

Are we just stumbling

onto the end,

when matters become

a thing for someone else

to deal with?

What have we achieved?

What is left to achieve?

Or are we pointless, clueless,

useless bodies

carrying regrets

to our termination stop?

.

No. Don’t be negative.

Find something within you

that gives you a purpose

makes a day, a month,

a year, ten, twenty, sixty,

time that will count.

.

Be a positive force,

change things around

and adapt your outlook

to look out, not just within.

.

There are things to do,

and things to be done;

get to your ending,

with a list of things

that have been won.
